This children's story book was written by Ranu James, Illustrated by John Maynard Balinggao and published by Library for all.

The smell of coconut rice cooking on the kitche fire filled the air.  Paia's hungry tummy grumbled and rumbled loudly.

"Paia, can you catch crab for dinner?" called her mother.

Paia jumped up and called her little brother.

"Lolo, come catch crab for dinner!"

How many crabs will they catch?

This beautiful children's story is a story my mother told me about one of her crabbing adventures with her little brother.

I love sharing these stories with the children and Educators I work with.

We acknowledge the cultural and ancestral knowledge of these custodians. Their knowledge and care has been instrumental in protecting our beautiful, diverse lands and waterways for thousands of years.

We acknowledge how these ancestors, have woven their stories of culture into the minds and souls of those Leaders and Elders present today, who continue to weave their stories and knowledge into the hearts and souls of their future Leaders and Elders.
